First, we encourage you to stabilize all exposed topsoil stockpiles this
fall by seeding with a temporary seed mix. I have included a copy of the Division's
September 15, 1994 inspection report which lists several suggestions for a temporary seed
mix. Or, you may consult with a local Soil Conservation Service representative for a
recommendation.
Second, those portions of the pit which were regraded and retopsoiled in August, 1994
should also be seeded this fall. You have the option to seed those areas with either a
temporary seed mix or a permanent seed mix. If you choose a permanent seed mix it should
be representative of pastureland vegetation. Please provide us with a list of vegetative
species and seed rates to be applied since we do not have a permanent seed mix on record.
If your preference for apost-mining land use is a use other than pastureland, such as
cropland, rangeland, or wildlife habitat, then please notify us in writing and include an
appropriate seed mix to be used.
We appreciate your cooperation. Please call me at (303) 866-3567 if you need further
assistance.
Sincerely,
~~~~rt~~L
Thomas A.
