• •
The Corley Company
Phone 632-6050 P.O Bo~t62t
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO 60901
Nov. 15, 1992
Ms. Catherine W. Begej
Div. of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St.
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Ms. Begej:
iii iiiiuiiiiiii iii
999
R~~~~~
~ov1 x,19 ~~.~
N1lA/ Di~,S.i ~.
~RA(S~ ~f 0~ ~~~~Y
The Corley Company hereby requests an inspection as per Rule 5.02.5(1)
of the Westpit area.
We visited that area on Nov. 14, 1992, and noted that the fresh water
diversion ditch has been greatly enlarged with a considerably higher
easterly berm. However, the southerly extent of that berm does not
adequately exclude the water from the reclamation area. There is
probably less than one foot of elevation of the berm between the dirty
water and the fresh water channels at the southerly end, which i.s the
point where the drainage from the disturbed area crossed into the clean
water diversion ditch resulting in NOV C-92-017 originall}•.
We believe that Harrison Western has not removed enough sediment from
the pond to significantly enlarge its capacity. They have created
several stockpiles of the sediment, some of which are on the access
road, completely blocking any access on that road. The only access to
the Westpit now is through the pond. Other stockpiles are in a novel
area - in the pond itself.
Sincerely,
W.D. Corley, Jr':
President
