_z_
,~
Within the Aspen community, seven herbaceous species (three grasses, and
four forbs) are represented by greater than 5% relative cover. By plotting
the contribution of each species to the total relative cover, it was determined
that five species comprise the dominant herbaceous component in the Aspen
vegetation type.
For the Aspen community I would recommend that H-G replace at leos~t five
herbaceous species, of which four are cool season grasses, and two cE forh,1
species. The combined relative cover (or importance) of these five species `"~
should not exceed 75%, nor should any one of these species exceed 40%
relative cover (or importance).
The Gambel Oak community has five species (three grasses, two forbs) which
comprise greater than 5% re laCive cover. These same species contribute
the majority of the total relative cover and comprise the dominant Herbaceous
vegetative component.
I would recommend the following success criteria for
H-G should replace at lease five herbaceous species,
grasses, and two being forbs. The combined relative
these species should not exceed 75% on the reclaimed
one of these species comprise greater than 40% relat
the Gam6e1 Oak community.
three Heing cool season
cover (or importance) of ~~
surface, nor should any
ive cover (or impor.tance).
The Sa e sh community type at the H-G mine contained the greatest number of
species which were represented by greater than 5% relative cover. Eight
species (Four grasses, four forbs) combined to account for 81.3'/. of the total
relative cover. In analyzing the dominant component of the herbaceous
vegetation, five species were found to dominate the herhaceous component of
this community.
Prom this information I would recommend that H-G restore at ]east Eive herbaceous
species, of which four are cool season grasses and one is a forb species. IJ 1
The combined relative cover (or importance) of these species should not exceed ~
75% on the reclaimed surface, nor should any of these species comprise greater
than 40% relative cover (or importance).
The Chokecherry community contained tl~e ].east diverse assemblage of vegetation
from the standpoint of species comprising greater than 5% relative cover.
Three species had relative cover values greater than Five%. A comparison
of the dominant species showed that these same three species comprised the
dominant component of the chokecherry community herbaceous vegetation.
In the revegetation of the Chokecherry revegetation type I would recommend
that H-G reestablish at least three herbaceous species, two of which are \
cool season grasses, and one a forb species. The combined relative cover 2 ~
(or importance) of these species should not exceed 75% on the reclaimed
surface, nor should any one of these species comprise greater Ulan 40%
relative cover (or im~~ortance).
