Deft. of N~t!aai Eeso!-,c~.,
RE: Orchard Valley Mine Permit ~kC-038-81 - Stipulation ~k15
Dear Tom:
Stipulation ~k15 states "within six months after permit issuance,
Colorado Westmoreland, Inc., in consultation with Regulatory Authority,
shall develop mutually acceptable success criteria for species diversity
on reclaimed areas".
Colorado Westmoreland Inc. recognizes that a diversity of species
within the reclaimed area is necessary to promote a long term stability
of the post mining vegetation. An acceptable species diversity success
criteria can be developed once an acceptable reference area or areas have
been determined and approved. As stated in a letter to Mr. Floyd John-
son, Office of Surface Mining, on December 30, 1981, and a carbon copy
sent to you, a meeting will be held at Orchard Valley Mine in the Spring
of 1982 to discuss and view alternative reference areas.
Colorado Westmoreland Inc., therefore, requests that the species
diversity success stipulation deadline be extended for an additional
three month period so the meeting may take place.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.
Sincerely,
7~i~c~-1~,~
Matthew S.
