Cattany
Division Director
Natu21 Resource Trustee
On September 14, 2005 Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Boazd (Boazd) promulgated revised
Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Boazd for Coal Mining (Rules).
One of the revised Rules, 4.15.1(5) requires each operator to incorporate a weed management plan
into their permit. Review of the Trapper permit finds that the currently approved weed
management plan, Section 3.6.3.7, page 3-154, needs updating to bring the plan into compliance
with Rule 4.15.1(5).
Please submit a revision to update the weed management plan to comply with Rule 4.15.1(5).
Components of the plan include definition of noxious plant species that require weed management,
and provide detail of weed control methods to be utilized. The Division recognizes that Trapper
Mining Inc. regulazly conducts weed control operations, consisting of spraying and occasionally
mowing, however documentation of these operations is not described in the permit text or in the
Annual Reclamation Reports. Submittal of a description of your current practices for inclusion
into the permit may provide the Division adequate information for compliance with Rule 4.15.1(5).
Please call me if you have questions.
Sincet~ly,
Binns
(303)
Protection Specialist
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
