_..-• - <br />Timber: <br />All trees over 8" in diameter must be designated for removal prior to excavation of dig sites and must receive <br />Forest Service approval. <br />'Fallen trees must be limbed, lopped and scattered. Slash will be no deeper than 12" on the ground. Bole <br />material larger than 4" in diameter will be removed to location where the public can access it for firewood. <br />In lieu of cutting, trees maybe pushed or excavated with mechanized equipment. All resulting stumps must <br />be buried in the adjacent dig site when reclamation occurs. <br />The operator would be required to purchase a firewood permit to use any cut trees that are not directly <br />incident to mining operations. <br />Fire: <br />All internal combustion engines including but not limited to generators, vehicles, mechanized mining <br />equipment and power tools, must be fitted with an approved spark arresting device or muffler in good <br />working order. <br />The operator must have and maintain hand tools for fire suppression in the event of a wildland fire. <br />Reclamation: <br />Continual reclamation will continue throughout the mining season. The claimant will take measures to <br />prevent or control onsite and off-site damage to NFS land resources including (36 CFR 228.8 g): <br />o Control of erosion and landslides from temporary access roads and dig sites <br />o Control of water runoff <br />o Isolation, removal or control of toxic materials <br />Annual (end-of-season) reclamation will include: <br />o Removal of all equipment and trash from mining claim <br />o Seed topsoil piles with native seed and/or monitor spoil piles for erosion problems. <br />o Recontouring and replacement of topsoil in disturbed sites where mining operations are complete <br />o Revegetation of all recontoured areas <br />o Annual reclamation will be completed by October 31 of each year. <br />Final reclamation will include: <br />o Removal of all equipment and trash from mining claim <br />o Recontouring and replacement of topsoil at all disturbed sites (including dig sites and all temporary <br />access roads) <br />o Revegetation of all disturbed areas with native vegetation. Before reclamation bond is released, <br />vegetation must be established 80% or better compared to the surrounding undisturbed aeeas. <br />Reclamation of the site will be measured by the Minerals Administrator, South Pazk RD. <br />Use and Occupancy of the Forest <br />Mining Access and Occupancy: <br />Occupancy and use restrictions apply to the Glacier Peak, Crystal Jack and Colorado Calumet mining <br />operations. The policy prohibits camping on NFS land more than 28 days within a continuous b0 day period <br />on the entire Pike National Forest, where not otherwise restricted, and occupying any campsite for more than <br />14 days during [his 60 day period within 3 miles of a previous campsite (Pike National Forest Special Order <br />Number iJFC-01-O5, 36 CFR 228.A). The proposed 60 day camping per operation per yeaz will be permitted <br />only within the claim boundaries when directly incident to mining operations (36 CFR 228 Subpazt A). <br />(The operator is required to request permission from private property owners prior to utilizing a private access <br />road, constructing any temporary access roads or mining on private property. <br />Page 40 of 49 ~ =:: ~ :' <br />
