completion of dewatering, if necessary, CONTRACTOR shall stake the elevation of the side <br />slopes of the pond at the elevation of the lower most inlet to the CMP riser. In order to ensure <br />that the proper elevation is established, the use of a tripod mounted surveyors level is required. <br />The surface area of the pond to be affected by this Task shall be scarified to a depth of four <br />inches (4") through the use of a disc harrow or other appropriate means. One inch (1") of dry <br />bentonite shall be placed on the prepared work area after the discing is completed. This <br />material will be worked into the base and side slopes of the pond by discing the affected area <br />until the bentonite is well incorporated into the scarified surface. <br />Measurement and Payment <br />There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump <br />sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for identifying <br />the area to be affected by this Task, preparation of the area, and purchase and installation of <br />the bentonite materials. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved by the <br />PROJECT MANAGER. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, <br />materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of Task 4, <br />Sealing Sediment. <br />Task 5 Equipment Rental <br />Areas in and adjacent to the Project Area may require slope reduction, excavation or erosion <br />control work. CAT 4168 Backhoe loader or equivalent 74 fhp machine with operator and a five <br />(5) cubic yard on/off highway end dump truck with operator shall be furnished for additional <br />work as needed. Additional rip rap materials may be needed to armor areas outside the rolled <br />dip, and low water crossings. It is estimated that up to twenty cubic yards (20 yd') of <br />additional screened two-inch average size rip rap material may be required. The use of the rip <br />rap material is NOT guaranteed. <br />The hours outlined in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule are NOT guaranteed. All work will be <br />accomplished according to Specification 19.0, Equipment Rental, General Bid Specifications, <br />1996. <br />Measurement and Payment <br />Measurement and payment will be made as per Specification 19.0, Equipment Rental. <br />Payment will be made at the unit prices established in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. The hours <br />outlined in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule are NOT guaranteed. Rip Rap will be paid by the cubic <br />yard installed at the unit price bid in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. The use of the additional rip <br />rap material is NOT guaranteed. <br />
