DISCUSSION
A pre-blast inspection and survey made January 2G, 1981 by Vt,fE on
the Dorchester Mine property established the Dorchester items of
concern regarding vicinity blasting. The items were:
1. Sedimentation fond
i 2. Diesel Fuel Tank
3. Propane Tank
4. ]Nash Plent and Motor Controls
5. 20,000 Gallon Concrete Water Tank
Dorchester personnel indicated tl~e five items as the most 'critical'
at the mine site.
The included data sheet presents the information pertinent to the
'i study and this discussion. The data sheet is self-explanatory.
A logarithmic 'curve' sheet is also included with this report. It
is based (a) on the results of the linear regression, but has been
modified to a visual interpretation of the scatter points for the
following reason: The distribution of the six data points at this
early stage, based on our considerable experience, is not consistent.
We need to collect further data at lower scaled distances before we
can justify the regression curve.
The data collected on January 28 is good and clearly defined on the
records as stated above. Additional data will be required to refine
f~ i~ and make more accurate the conclusion and recommendations. ,GGC Minerals
~-. ~ has rented a VF1G Seismograph and plans to monitor every future shot. llie
future data will become accumulative which will make blasting consequences
more predicitable still,
