Gttany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Minerals and Geology is in the process of doing a review of all operations
currently in temporary cessation. The file or Permit No. M1977215 for the Bulldog Mine Project
operation indicates that it has been in temporary cessation since 4/21/1989. This exceeds the
statutorily allowed period of temporary cessation by 7 years. The Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Act at Section 34-32-103(6)(a)(3) requires that all operators either reinitiate mining
operations or begin reclamation activities prior to reaching the end of the allowed temporary
cessation period.
Therefore, please provide the Division with written documentation, to include the date, that you
have reinitiated active mining operations as defined at Section 34-32-103(8) of the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Act, or have begun site reclamation as defined at Section 34-32-
103(13).
If you have any questions, please contact the Division at (303) 866-3567 and ask to speak to the
Environmental Protection Senior Specialist responsible for your azea of the State. We appreciate
your cooperation in getting this matter resolved.
Respectfully, ~ /~ '
,~
H. Bruce Humphries,
Minerals Program Supervisor
cc: Mr. Ronald C.
