~ .
Reporting Period September 16, 1997 -September 21, 1997
DewaterinR Borehole Road: The sight lines and slope conditions remain as previously reported.
Minor seepage and associated slumping is continues.
Substation Slope: Visual observations and survey data for the slope above the substation indicates
movement is continuing at a slow and gradual pace. No advancement of the head scarp further upslope
and into the Landing #2 road was observed. Additional work on this slope th the past week includes
dressing of the slope above the ditch to flatten and regrade the slope into the ditch, and creation of a
series of 4' high by 8' wide benches between the ditch and top of the cliff above the substation.
Monitoring will continue.
Shaft Site # 1 and #2: The compacted soil buttress installed to stabilize the shallow slope failure on
the steep cut slope south of Shaft #1 was observed on September 20. The buttress appears solid and
no new movement was visually detected. Slopes to either side of the buttress area were also observed
and appeared stable. Site lines are straight and intact. Visual monitoring and collection of surface
survey data will continue. Golder Associates has been retained to study rock fall hazards for the site,
as well as for the Shaft #3 site as reported last week.
Electric Borehole Road: This road is complete except for road base. Berms and ditches are in place.
Road cuts and fills are dry and stable. H-Wall is 100% complete.
Shaft Site #3: As of September 20, the Shaft #3 site is complete with the exception of final rip rap
placement for drainage ditches, and final grading for the Electric Borehole site and Degas borehole
road. Slopes are dry and stable.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (970) 929-2207.
Sincerely, ~~
~a ~'
Eric W.
