f
Reporting Period September 22, 1997 -September 29, 1997
3
Substation Slope: Visual observations and survey data for the slope above the substation indicates
movement is continuing at a slow and gradual pace. No advancement of the head scarp further upslope
and into the Landing #2 road was observed. Side slope scarp lines are not visually apparent after
completion of the additional work on this slope reported last week. The completed mid-slope French
drain appears to be functioning effectively, as a small (0.5 - 1 gpm) but continuous flow is discharging
from the lower end of the drain. Monitoring will continue.
Shaft Site # 1 and #2: The compacted soil buttress installed to stabilize the shallow slope failure on
the steep cut slope south of Shaft # 1 was observed on September 29. The buttress appears solid and
no new movement was visually detected. Slopes to either side of the buttress area were also observed
and appeared stable. Site lines are straight and intact. Visual monitoring and collection of surface
survey data will continue.
Electric Borehole Road: This road is complete except for road base. Berms and ditches are in place.
Road cuts and fills are dry and stable. The French drains installed in July at the north end of this road
continue to run water at approximately 5 gpm.
Shaft Site #3: As of September 29, the Shaft #3 site is complete with the exception of final rip rap
placement in drainage ditches. Soil slopes are dry and stable. Rock slopes appear solid.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (970) 929-2207.
Sincerely,
Eric W.
