This policy requires that a proponent of a <br />Federal project that will deplete streat~low in the Dpper Colorado River Basin <br />must contribute to a fund for the conservation of endangered species of fishes <br />is the basin. In addition, the proponent may be required to mitigate the <br />depletion by supplementing or reducing the depletion, if there are projected <br />impacts to endangered fishes. The proposed mining plan modification and <br />permit will not affect nay endangered species, including endangered species of <br />fish is the upper Colorado River Basin, beyond the 26.7 acre-foot depletion of <br />streamflow. <br />5ummarY of Impacts <br />Alternative number 1, Approval without special conditions - The mining plan <br />modification, as proposed by CWI, and the permit to be issued by the State is <br />deficient is protection of golden eagles nesting areas, four archeological <br />sites from potential impacts of subsidence and endangered species of fish in <br />the Dpper Colorado River Basin. <br />Alternative number 2, Disapproval - Disapproval would result in negative <br />impacts to the local and State economies and put between 30 and 150 people, <br />currently mine employees, out of work.
