The mine consumes water for irrigation, dust suppression, domestic uses,
and coal preparation plant operations. The source of this water comes
from mine inflows. Snowmass has secured two absolute water rights for
the water pumped from the mine. A discussion of water use and rights is
contained in Volume I, Section 4.6.1.3.6 of the application.
The review of the water rights sections was conducted with the assistance
of the Colorado State Engineer's Office, Division of Water Resources.
The mine and Loadout were found to be in compliance with the requirements
of this section.
VIII. Probable Hydrologic Consequences of Mining and Cumulative
Hydrologic Impacts Study - Rules 2.05.6(3) and 2.07.6(2)(c)
This Cumulative Hydrologic Impact Study (CRIB) for the drainage basin of
the Roaring fork River has been prepared by the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Division (CMLRD) pursuant to Rule 2.07.6(2)(c). This CHIS
assesses the probable cumulative hydrologic impacts of all anticipated
coal mining operations upon the general area of the Roaring Fork River
Valley (figure 2). Included in this assessment are existing coal mines
and those proposed coal mines for which permit applications have been
submitted to the Division. This study has been prepared using
information and analysis contained in the Coal Basin mines permit
application, information and analysis contained in other permit
applications of mines located in the general area and other available
information, including site visitation by members of the Division staff.
