The following items should be addressed:
1. It is stated that "The system is considered a closed circuit
system". Is it z~ closed system ? Are a-'I~utions recirculated)
Will there be any discharge?
2. What is the operating solution volume? What is the concentration
of free (or total) cyanide in these solutions? Will records be kept on
concentrations? How will cyanide be added? How will it be stored? /
What emergency neutralization chemicals will be on site. Tailings are
not neutralized through the addition of lime as stated in the original
permit. Concerning neutralization, you may want to contact your ~/
supplier.
3. It is stated that solution will be pumped from the tanks to the
heap and then from the base of the heap to the carbon columns and
storage tank. From the original application the processing area has an
asphalt berm to contain solutions. What will be the procedure if pipes /
burst or leak. Please submit more specific & detailed information on /
the process. I believe a map or schematic drawing of the site layout
would be appropriate.
4. It is stated that "leach solutions will not be permitted to exceed
a depth of four feet". Four feet in the tanks or in the heap? What is
the size of the heap? What is the berm design? What is the pore space
volume of the ore pile below the berm height? Please consider
schematically drawing in cross section the typical pile with
anticipated solution levels.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
