Walther
Executive Director
Michael a. Long
Division Director
This letter is being written to address the Designated Mining Operation (DMO) status of your Division of
Minerals and Geology (DMG) 110 reclamation permit, Permit No. #M-94-117, Gold Hill Mill. Upon review
of the site conditions and current reclamation plan, it was determined that while a potential exists for Acid Mine
Drainage from the ore stockpiles on the west side of the site, there is currently no evidence that the potential exists
for "quantities sufficient to adversely affect any person, properly, or the environment." In accordance with Hard
Rock Rules 1.1(14)(c) and (e), DMG has therefore decided that the monitoring of the down-gradient groundwater
wells (including Monitoring Well #1) will continue throughout the upcoming Temporary Cessation period, and that a
definitive determination of DMO status based on the data collected during this time period must be made prior to the
site again becoming active.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at (303) 866-3567.
Sincerely, ~
H.
