_~,_

DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATIONS AND RECLAMATION PLAN
Underground room and pillar methods will be used to mine the three fault
blocks delineated on Map 2 of this document. Three coal seams will be
mined; the Upper and Lower Pinnacles and Zone 3 as shown on the attached
Figure 1 of this document.
No additional surface disturbance is proposed at the Apex No. 2 Mine.
The existing disturbance is 5.6 acres which includes the existing portal
and surface facilities as depicted on 1~1ap 3 of this document. The
surface facilities include the office, shop, bathhouse, coal stockpile
area, tipple, conveyor, portal, exhaust fans, access roads, drainage
ditches and the sedimentation pond. No rail loadout facilities have been
proposed.
When mining ceases for this operation, the portals will be sealed and
backfilled to a stable confiyuration and the bench area will be yraded to
the approximate original contour. Sunland Mining Corporation will
distribute a suitable plant yrowth medium on the regraded surface. The
area will be seeded and mulched to establish a vegetation cover
consistant with the anticipated postmining land use of yrazing and
wildlife habitat.
