The area in question totals 7.3
acres, The stockpile amounts to 6,1 acres of this total and the remaining 1.2
acres are from [he associated road (Figure 1).
As discussed with you nn the phone, the topsoil stockpile is now in it's
second year cf established perennial vegetation. Installation of. a diversion
ditch to [he closes[ down-drainage sediment pond will require a ditch 3,400 feet
long. Additionally, construction of the structure will produce a disturbance 8
feet wide resulting in an 8 percent increase of total disturbance for the area
in question. Since the ditch must be built through agricultural lands, it will
be a hindrance to cultivation and harvest.
F,r osion at the site is minimal .since the stockpile is revegetated. The
road is seldom used so it should contribute little sediment to the drainage. To
[he north of the disturbance is old County Highway l3 (abandoned) which provides
a barrier to runoff across farmlands.
Any additional controls for
otherwise erosionally stable site
decision on the site in the near
the site would result in disturbance to an
Carol, we will be looking forward to your
future.
Sincerely, LL {/^
H.
