Adams County Colorado
Dear Mr. Mount,
Adams County Parks E. Community Resources hereby requests a site inspection by the Division of
Minerals & Geology (DMG) be made of [he MannMyhol[ Mine site, S&G Permit #82-147. Adams Count}'
is the owner this property, which is currently being leased by Mobile Premix Concrete/Lafarge
(MPC/Lafarge) for aggregate extraction.
Adams County representatives have observed several mining activities by MPC/Lafarge that are of concern
to us as the property owner. As of this date, MPC/Lafarge has completed panial reclamation activities
required of their permit, i.e. pit lining for water storage. Some of the areas shown as being mined on their
pemtit have been outside of the permitted mining boundaries. It also appears some the reclamation
completed to date is outside of the permit boundaries.
Adams County has pointed out our concerns [o the mining operaror, MPC/Lafarge and would like to
proceed with further substantiation and documentation of a potential non-compliant situation on our
property with [he Division. Adams County staff and its consuhants would like to attend the DMG
inspection in order to identify and discuss with you our specific areas of concem.
It is my understanding that once you have received this letter. DMG will conduct an on site inspection of
the permitted areas within 30 days. Please contact me to schedule this inspection. We are anxious to
continue discussions with the mine operator and minimize any further encroachments on areas outside the
pemtit boundaries. Time is of the essence as MPC/Lafarge has recently informed [he County that they
should be mined out and finalizing reclamation on this site by September 2002.
Tha k you - your assistance m this maser,
Rick Anderson
Adams County
Natural Resource Manger
cc: Crystal Gray, Adams County Parks Director
Kurt Carlson, Adams County Regional Park Mg.
Craig Tessmer, Adarns County Environmental Coordinator
litn Robinson, Adams County Attorney
Nancy Love, Love R Associates, Inc.
Duane Bollig, Lafarge
BOARU OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS:
ELAINE T.
