INTRODUCTION <br />This document is the renewal decision package prepared by the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology (the Division) for the Canadian Strip Mine located east of the town of Walden in <br />Jackson County, Colorado. This document includes: 1) the proposed decision to approve the <br />permit renewal application; 2) a summary that includes a history of the review of the permit <br />application, a description of the environment effected by the operation and a description of the <br />mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the written findings of compliance the Division has made <br />as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed information <br />concerning the findings of compliance can be found in the Regulations of the Colorado Mined <br />Land Reclamation Boazd for Coal Mining. <br />The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct surface coal mining and <br />reclamation operations at [he Canadian Strip Mine. The application was submitted by Slurco <br />Corporation. The mine will be operated by the Slurco Corporation for reclamation only activities. <br />The mine is on federal and private lands within Jackson County, Colorado. The legal description <br />of the lands included within the permit area is: <br />The mine site is 12 miles east of Walden. The legal description of the property incudes: <br />T.8N, R.78W, 6th P.M. <br />Section 10: SE 1/4 NEl/4 NEl/4. Containing 10 acres. <br />Section 11: W1/2 NW1/4. Containing 80 acres. <br />Section 2: Beginning at the point 1225 feet N89°47'21 "E from the N W corner <br />of the SW1/4, Section 2, thence N 89°47'21"E, 700 feet, thence S 00°12'39" E, <br />1500 feet, thence Southwest to a point on the South section line that is 1530 feet <br />S 89°38'00"E of the SW corner of said SWl/4, thence N89°38'00" W, 1530 feet <br />to the SW comer of said SWl/4, thence N 00°01'03"W, 300 feet, thence N <br />40°44'00"E, 1250 feet, thence NE to a point of beginning.
