The mine has ceased coal production effective in
December of 1994. Since that time the operation has been in the final reclamation phase.
Information required in the above referenced rule for cessation is as follows:
a) Surface acres affected prior to cessation is 1292.9
b) Extent & kind of reclamation accomplished to date: All reclamation activities necessary
to initiate the extended liability period have been completed.
c) Activities that will continue during this cessation include all applicable monitoring
activities as outlined in Pletmit #C-80-001.
d) Temporary Cessation is claimed due to the fact that several permitting issues toward
final configuration of the reclaimed mine are outstanding. These include facilities retention
and road retention.
The Edna Mine does not intend to resume coal production at any time in the future at this site. It is
the mine's intention, following resolution of the two pernitting issues mentioned above, to enter
Permanent Cessation.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at the Edna Mine site.
Sincerely,
~~
David Beverfin
Resident Engineer
