'~
1xrROnucr><oly
Cripple Creek & Victor Mining Company has submitted a report to the Division of Mines
and Geology pertinent to Amendment 6 for development of the Cresson project. This
report addresses the topic of acid-base potential of Cresson overburden materials. The
report also presents a plan to deal with the overburden materials which takes into account
the observed or projected acid-base potential of these materials.
Berhan Keffelew, Environmental Protection Specialist with the Division of Mines and
Geology, has requested a third party review of this report by the author. The review is
conducted with an emphasis on the chemical or geochemical aspects of the report and
addresses the following specific topics or areas of interest:
Consistency, quality, and appropriateness of the chemical and geochemical
data relative to the issues of acid generation and metals mobilization potential in the
overburden materials.
Conclusions presented by CC&V relative to the data and their interpretation
of the data in terms of acid generation, metals mobilization, and steps to address
these issues.
Opinions on likely acid generating and metals mobilization from the Cresson
overburden materials and on impact of such generation and metals release in the
impacted environment.
Opinions on the planned handling of the overburden materials at the
Cresson site with regard to control of acid and metals release to the surrounding
environment.
Where appropriate and within my experience or expertise, suggesting
modifications or additions to handling plans for the overburden materials that
might reduce acid or metals impacts.
The professional opinions presented in this review are based upon information presented in
the subject report and upon supporting documentation noted below.
OtvII.R951DEH
