The tabulated results for this survey aze shown in Table 11. The area was
seeded in late 1996. Several gullies connecting to the final pit drainage channel existed in the
block. The gullies originally resulted from late summer storm activity in 1997. The gullies were
repaired and seeded in 1998. Vegetation has been slow to reestablish with minor gullies
beginning to reform. Corrective measures planned as a result of the inventory include: repairing
selected portions of the Final Pit Downdrain and Downdrain 4; roughing-up and seeding the new
gully activity associated with the pit downdrain; roughing-up gullies which have formed in the
vicinity of the topsoil storage pile azea.
Table 11: Moffat Area Block 10 Erosion Condition Classification
Item
Possible
Score 1999 1998 1997 1996 1995
Soil Movement 14 0 0 3
Surface Litter 14 0 0 0
Surface Rock Fragments 14 0 0 3
Pedestalling 14 0 0 0
Flow Patterns 15 0 0 6
Rills 14 6 6 9
Gullies 15 3 3 15
Total 100 9 9 36
Erosion Condition Classifi cation: Stable Stable Slight
8
