~ III IIIlilllllllllll
999
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
David H. Getchea, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTOH, Director
Richard D. Lamm
Governor
February 19, 1985
Mr. Steve O'Brian
9989 West 60th Avenue
Arvada, Colorado 80004
Re: Technical Revision - Hazeltine Pit - MLRD File No., 77-153
Dear Mr. O'Brian:
I have reviewed the above-referenced technical revision and have developed the
following recommendations that must be addressed by Friday 22, 1985.
i. The file still shows Hazeltine Investment Assoc., Inc. as the operator
for this permit. Please fill out the enclosed Succession of Operator and
Performance Warranty forms with Al Frei and Sons as the new operator. All
financial warranty documents must reflect the same operator.
2. The median area between stages I and 0 is considered too thin at two
areas. The Division recommends a minimum top width of 50 feet over the entire
length of the median strip. It will also be assumed that the median strip
will be maintained to prevent erosional degradation of the median side slopes
as per our conversation (February 15, 1985).
3. The lake configurations as shown on the map dated January, 1985 will be
recommended for acceptance, except for those portions referred to in section
number 2 of this letter.
4. The maximum allowable disturbed area will be permitted at 26.39 and
this limit will be strictly enforced. Please be sure that this limit is
complied with as backfilling activities proceed on the east portion of the pit.
5. The Division will be requesting a bond of b45,000.00 for the site. The
following calculations are derived from the submitted figures and Division
cost references. These reflect our potential expenses.
Grade and Shape -
_ ~ 3,888.00
Backsloping -
(1,800 ft) (15 cu. yd./ft) x (b0.40/c u. yd.) _ $10,800.00
(Cat D-7G; 83% efficiency; minimum distance)
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
