' ~ ' <br />By <br />Camp Bird Colorado, Inc. will continue to negotiate with [he County to seek a mutually <br />satisfactory solution to the bridge replacement versus site access problem. However, until such an <br />agreement is finalized, Camp Bird Colorado, Inc. requests that a delay be granted by DMG-MLRD <br />with respect to implementation and completion of the Phase II Site Reclamation activities. <br />Site conditions at the Camp Bird Mine have been substantially stabilized since Camp Bird <br />Colorado, Inc. initiated Phase I reclamation activity in 1999. The two primary tailing <br />impoundments situated norttl of Canyon Creek have been recontoured for surface drainage and <br />covered with a nominal 4-inch colluvium growth medium. Natural vegetation has been <br />established over most of this, surface, and the former wind-blown [ailing dispersion problem has <br />been substantially alleviated. <br />Demonstrative of further progress towazd final site closure, in early 2000, Camp Bird Colorado, <br />Inc. submitted and received approval for Technical Revision No. 2 (April 28, 2000) and Technical <br />Revision No. 3 (June 28, 2000), respectively. These Technical Revisions provide the finalized <br />specifications for Phase II Site Reclamation and overall site revegetation. A qualified reclamation <br />contractor has been identified, and construction specifications developed. In addition, routine site <br />maintenance has been carried out with respect to weed control as well as maintenance of <br />stonnwater drainage conveyances. The property was inspected on May 26, 2000 by <br />representatives of the CDPHE Water Quality Control Division and U.S. EPA (relative [o former <br />CDPES Permit #CO-0026981), and a June 30, 2000 report issued with the finding of "no issues <br />noted during our inspection". <br />Camp Bird Colorado, Inc. will perform limited interim revegetation of the north side (Phase I) <br />reclaimed tailing areas this fall. We believe that this revegitation work will take place this week <br />(Week of 2 October 2000), amd we will keep you apprized of developments in this regazd. In <br />summary, the site can be considered stabilized and all necessary planning has been completed for <br />execution of Phase II Site Reclamation and overall site revegetation.
