Box 2679
Colorado Springs, Colorado 80901-2679
~1~Ll+~~Ii
Re: Revegetation of East Pit Area - Chimney Rock Coal, File No. C-023-81

The Division has received and reviewed your correspondence of December 21,
1984 in reference to the revegetation of the Chimney Rock Mine East Pit Area.
It appears that Perma Resources has made a reasonable effort to revegetate
this area during the Fall, 1984 season and has failed due to weather and
subcontractor problems. The Division also agrees that a winter or spring
seeding is the best alternative at this time. However, because of the need to
take advantage of the moisture present during the spring snowmelt, the
requested deadline of June 30, 1985 is considered to be too late in the season
to complete your seeding and mulching program.
The Division will approve delaying the seeding and mulching of this area, at
the approved seed and mulch rates, until May 15, 1985. Any disturbance
created after this date by contour furrowing must be seeded and mulched within
10 days after the disturbance takes place.
Areas which do not appear to have achieved an adequate germination of seed by
next summer may be reseeded and mulched again during the Fall of 1985.
If you have any questions or further comments please contact us in the near
future.
Sincerely,
~ ~~ ~~~w ~
Gregg R:~Squire .
Reclamation Specialist
GRS/fw
Doc.
