The Grassy Creek valley floor from the outcrops of Twentymile
Sandstone downstream to Routt County road #27 appears to be
the only portion deserving a detailed study for possible Allu-
vial Valley Floor designation.
Positive Flood Irrigation Criteria
a. Adequate headwaters and water is stored. (Water rights in
Grassy belong to another landowner).
b. Could be spray irrigated if adequate surface or ground
water were available.
c. Probably 20 acres could be irrigated.
Negative Flood Irrigation Criteria
a. No ditches.
b. No diversion points.
c. No record of filing of water rights.
d. No vegetative changes.
e. No wells or pumps.
f. No diversion from other drainages.

'
~)"~ g•
~ o known irrigation is practiced in similar valleys
(size
sha
e
lo
a
d str
am
nt
t) withi
h
z
~ a ,
p
, s
pe
n
e
e
renc
men
n
~'i`~ _ a 2 mile radius.
. ~/-/~ h. Depth from stream channel and arroyos would create
>
erosion problems from any type of irrigation.
~,
yy(ti ' i. Size of potentially irrigable plots (9-5 acre areas)
are small for the investment. Economically unsound.
Subirrigated Lands on Grassy Creek
Subirrigated bottom land is shown on the map. It is restricted
to a narrow belt of a few feet on either side of the active
stream throughout the specific study area. An area west and
immediately adjacent to Routt County road #27 contains about 2
acres of subirrigated land. These areas all contain grass
suites typical of this environment in Routt County.
