Box 25367, DFC
Denver, Colorado 80225
RE: McClane Canyon Test Site No. 1, I.D. X05-03013, Roof Control Plan
Attention: Mr. Steve Miller
Dear hir. Barton:
On January 15, 1980, a partial approval of the McClane Canyon Roof Control
Plan was given to facilitate the mining of a pending test order. I would
like to express my thanks for your rapid response in helping us solve the
timing problem with this particular order.
• The purpose of this letter is to clarify those items of concern regarding
the conventional timbering plans.
When using a conventional timbering plan under top coal or sandstone, we
may not have been clear in stating that, when minimum conditions are not
met, a resumption to a full bolting plan will be made until these minimum
conditions can again be met. When mining under top coal, this minimum
will be maintained at no less than 24" of coal. When mining under sand-
stone, the sandstone shall be competent and void of closely spaced joints
or shale lenses.
As discussed with Steve Miller through a phone conversation on January 30,
1980, this should clear up any remaining problems related to completion
of the roof control review.
Please contact me if any additional information is required.
Sincerely,
William A. Anderson -"~`~
Mine Superintendent
. blh
