in Part K of this plan to make the seals as air tight as possible.
This permanent type stopping shall be installed between the intake
• and return aircourses in the entries. Stoppings shall be erected
and maintained to and including the third connecting crosscut outby
the faces of the entries. Mandoors are to be installed at least
every 400 feet.
b. A drawing of a permanent stopping is shown in Figure 2.
H. Diesel Equipment
The following requirements are included in the plan:
1. Comply completely with the manufacturer's operating instructions and
maintenance manuals.
2. The atmosphere in the operator's compartment shall be sampled daily
with the engine running; and, if the analyses of these samples exceed
five parts per million NOp or fifty parts per million of carbon mono-
. xide or both, corrective measures must be taken immediately.
' 3. The atmosphere returning from any working place where diesel-powered
equipment is being used shall be tested at least once each shift while
the equipment is in operation and, if the analyses of these examples
exceed five parts per million NOZ or fifty parts per million CO or
both, corrective measures shall be taken immediately.
4. The date, time of sampling, machine identification and the analyses
obtained will be recorded in a book maintained for this purpose.
I. Use of Auxiliary Fans and Machine-Mounted Diffusers Underground
The auxiliary fans used are a permissible type, kept in permissible condi-
ti on, and inspected at least every four (4) hours when in use. A record
of the date, time of examination and the examiner's initials will be kept
on the fan. Air current reaching the fan is to be greater than the free
• discharge capacity of the fan. Recirculation of air through the fan will
not be permitted.
-11-
