F1, ROOF SUPPOP,T NJ~TEHIAL--CONVENTIONAL OR TEMPORARY AND SUPPLE)4ENTAL <br />Dimensions of Post--The lenpth of post shall be as required and the <br />• diameter must be at least 1 inch for each 15 inches in length but <br />not less than 4 inches--Split posts shall have a cross-sectional area <br />equal to that required for round posts of equivalent length. Smaller <br />posts may be used provided they are set in clusters to provide_equiv- <br />alent support. <br />Type of Post--Round or split of solid straight grain wood with the ends <br />sawed square and free from defects which would affect their strength. <br />*Cap blocks, size, and shape--Cap Blocks and footers shall have flat <br />ralleled sides and be not less than 2" X 4" X 12" in si <br />nsert ^~in <br />Wedges, size and shape--1/0" x 3; x 10" t4inimum <br />• *Crossbars, type and size--Crossbars shall be of straight grain solid <br />wood and thev shall be not less than 3-inches thick by 8-inches wide of <br />varying length. <br />*Planks, size--A minimum of 1-inch thick by S-inches wide of varying <br />len th. <br />Cribbing blocks, size and shape--Cribbing hlocks shall have flat para- <br />lleled sides and be not less than 3O-inches in lenoth. <br />*Note: Where wood material is used between roof bolt bearing plates <br />and the roof for additional bearing surface, the use shall be limited <br />to short life openings (not to exceed 3 years) unless treated. <br />3 <br />
