WECC will use fill material from the area known as the Bear Spoil
Stockpile and a small amount of shale and sandstone from
construction of overcasts to construct the foundation for the shop
and parking pad. No combustible, acid forming or toxic materials
will be used to construct the foundation.
A cross-section of the pile is shown on Attachment C. The
foundation will be constructed as described for the initial waste
rock pile in Exhibit s".2.9.A.1 as approved by the CMLRD except that
the outslopes of the foundation will. be covered with 18 inches of
topsoil prior to seeding with the permanent seed mix described in
Table 4.4.5.A of the Mt. Gunnison h1&R Plan. The foundation material
will be spread in uniform layers not more than 24 inches in loose
thickness and then compacted to at least 90% of the maximum density
as determined by the AASHTO T99-74 or equivalent test method. The
foundation will be sloped to a 1% grade to the east, as shown in
Attachment B, to drain to the existing shotcrete drainage ditch.
Upon completion of the foundation, a 175' x 55' shop expansion will
be constructed and the remaining area covered with asphalt and used
for parking.
Final reclamation of the disposal site will be in accordance with
Section 4.4 of the Mt. Gunnison Mining and Reclamation Plan.
Consistent with reclamation bond calculations for the surface
facilities area, cost for demolition of the new shop was determined
based upon construction costs.
Anticipated construction costs = 51.2 h1M
Labor portion: 30% of construction costs = 50.36 hU1
Demolition: 15% of labor costs = 50.054 t4M
Removal of asphalt pad = 50.005 MM
TOTAL BOND FOR DEMOLITION OF PAD AND BUILDING = 50.059 Mhl
Revegetation costs for this site were included in the 80 acres
rangeland (surface facilities) revegetation cost calculations shown
in Table 4.8.1.A of the Mt. Gunnison M and R Plan. Thus additional
bond for this activity = 559,000. Current reclamation costs for Mt.
Gunnison presently total 51,952,513. Current bond for the Mt.
Gunnison Mine = 52,702,700. Thus there is sufficient bond to cover
this activity.
Sincerely,
~ __~
' ~-~r
Paige~Fs'.
