This Environmental <br />Impact Statement discloses the direct, indirect, <br />and cumulative environmental impacts that <br />would result from the proposed action and <br />alternatives. The document is organized into <br />four chapters: <br />12 <br />Chapter 1. Purpos of and Need _for Action: <br />The chapter include information on the history <br />of the project propo al, the purpose of and need <br />for the project, and the agency's proposal for <br />achieving that pure se and need. Authorizing <br />actions are summlarized and the decision <br />framework is desc bed. This section details <br />how the Forest Se ice informed the public of <br />the proposal and thelpublic `s response. <br />Chapter 2. Alternate es, including the Proposed <br />Action: This chapt r provides a more detailed <br />description of the agency's proposed action as <br />well as alternative methods for achieving the <br />stated purpose. This discussion also includes <br />mitigation measures. Finally, this section <br />provides a table summarizing the <br />environmental consiequences associated with <br />each alternative. <br />Chapter 3. Affected Environment and <br />Environmental Cor~seguences: This chapter <br />describes the environmental effects of <br />implementing the proposed action and other <br />alternatives. This malysis is organized by <br />resource. <br />Chapter 4. Consultation and Coordination: <br />This chapter provides a list of preparers and <br />agencies consulted c~luring the development of <br />the environmental in~~pact statement. <br />References: Full references used in the analysis <br />and cited in the EIS :ire presented here. <br />Acronyms: Because this is a government <br />document, this EIS vises many acronyms.
