Jim Pendleton expressed concern about potential "block failure" in the lower part
of Box Canyon tract. He is concerned about the implications of longwall mining
beneath the Oliver No. 2 Mine in that Rich.Duruvd had previously explained the
draining of beaver ponds in a tributary to Sylvester Gulch as resulting from
mining activities in the Oliver No. 2 Mine. He noted that WWE will need to
address whether this type of surface impact will occur again.
11. Jim Pendleton noted that it is very important to demonstrate that water rights will
be "kept whole" during and after the mining.
12. There was discussion about how high into the formations cracks are likely to go.
Jim Pendleton noted that he expected the extent of fracturing to be much less than
[hose cited by standard subsidence text. Rich Dunrud stated that he agrees with
this, particularly in this specific setting.
We hope that you fmd this summary helpful and correct. Please do not hesitate to call with your
suggested changes. Again, thank you for meeting and we look forward to working with you on
this project.
Very truly yours,
WRIGHT WATER ENGINEERS, INC.
., ~.S'1L
han E.
