In accordance with Rule 3.03 of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />Board (MLRB) for Coal Mrning, this document constdutes written notification of the Division <br />of Minerals and Geology's (Division) proposed decision to approve a Phase II and Phase III <br />bond release (SL-02) for 12 62 acres at the Rimrock Mine (permit #C-89-074j permitted by <br />Rimrock Coal Company and operated by Landmark Reclamation, Inc A Phase I bond <br />release ~s also approved for three small areas (1 4 acres) that were specifically excluded <br />from a previous bond release (SL-01) and were not specifically addressed in the apphcabon. <br />This bond release, ~f it becomes final. would terminate all jurisdiction of the Division and the <br />MLRB at the site. The permit area is 38 acres of which 12.62 were disturbed dunng <br />operations. The permit area is located in the NW114, Section 29 T33S R63W in Engleville <br />Canyon about 2 miles SW of Trirndad, Colorado. The rationale for this approval is as <br />outlined below, <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Rimrock Mine permit area is situated on steep terrain dissected by numerous <br />drainages. The local topography is largely shaped by tributaries of the Purgatoire River. <br />
