early spring applications of Roundup Pro or Oust may provide some relief during
establishment.
The best method to control broadleaf weeds is to reclaim a site the same year it is disturbed
when possible. More attention may be required to annual broadleaf weed control on sites
prior to reclamation when they cannot be seeded the same year as disturbed. Under certain
circumstances herbicide use may be necessary. It appears that light application rates when the
weeds are very young may help avoid potential impacts to desirable species once established.
However, very young seedlings are much more susceptible to the effects of herbicides. Thus,
herbicide application is not recommended during the first growing season.
