TANK MIX TREATMENTS
BANVEL may be tank mixed with one or more of the following herbicides for
control of grosses or additional broadleaf weeds. Read and follow the label of
each tank mix product used for precautionary statements, directions for use, rotes
and timings, weeds controlled, geographic and other restrictions.
PERENNIAL weeds may be controlled with lower rotes of either BANVEL or
BANVEL plus 2,4-D. See the following RATES AND TIMMGS section.
RATES AND TIMINGS
Application rates and timing of BANVEL are given below. Use the higher level
of listed rate ranges when treadng dense or tall vegetative growth.
crop injury.
PASTURE, HAY, RANGELAND, AND GENERAL FARMSTEAD (Non-
Cropland)
BANVEL is recommended for use for pasmre, hay, rangeland, general farmstead
(non-cropland) (including fence rows and non-irrigation di[chbanks) for broadleaf
weed and brush control. BANVEL may also be applied to non-cropland areas for
[he control of broadleaf weeds in Noxious Weed Control Programs, Districts or
Areas including broadcast or spot treatment of roadsides and highways, utilities,
railroad and pipeline righisof--way. Noxious weeds mull be recognized at the
state level but programs may be administered at state, county or other level.
Observe all precautions. Read and follow mixing and application instmetions.
BANVEL uses described in this section also pertain to small groins (such as
barley, forage Sorghum, oats, rye, sudangmss or wheat) grown for pasture use
only.
NEWLY SEEDED AREAS, including small grains grown for pasmre may be
severely injured if rotes of BANVEL greater than 1 pindA are applied.
ESTABLISHED GRASS CROPS growing under stress can exhibit various injury
symptoms [hat may be more pronounced if herbicides are applied.
Bentgmss, catpetgmss, buffalograss and St. Augustine grass may be injuretl at
rates exceeding I pint BANVEL (~/ Ib a.i.) per [reared acre. Usually colonial
bemgmsses are more tolerant than creeping types. Velvetgmsses are most easily
injured. Treatments will kill or injure alfalfa, clovers, Iespedeza, wild winter peas,
vetch and other legumes.
ANIMALS CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM TREATED AREA FOR SLAUGH-
TER PRIOR 70 30 DAYS AFTER LAST APPLICATION.
THERE IS NO WAITING PERIOD BETWEEN TREATMENT AND GRAZMG
FOR NON-LACTATING ANIMALS.
TIMING RESTR1CTlONS FOR LACTATING DAIRY ANIMALS FOLLOW-
Up to 2 quarts (2 Ibs. e.i.) 40 days 70 days
NOTE: Observe all precautions and restrictions on labels ofproducts used in tank
mlxmre5.
MIXING AND APPLICATION
BANVEL can be applied using water, oil in water emulsions including invert ''.
systems, or spmyable fluid fertilizer az a carrier. A COMPATIBILITY TEST
(see COMPATIBILITY 7EST section) should be made prior to tank mixing.
To prepare oil in water emulsions, half-fill spray tank with wateq then add i
appropriate amount of emulsifier. With continuous agitation, slowly add [he
herbicide and then the oil (such as diesel oil or fuel oil) or a premix of oil plus
additional emulsifier to spmy tank. Complete filling of spmy tank with water.
Maintain vigorous agitation during spmy operation to prevent oil and water from
forming separate layers.
BANVEL may be applied broadcast using either ground or aerial application
equipment When using ground equipment, apply 3 l0 600 gallons oC diluted
spray per treated acre. Volume of spmy applied will depend on the height,
density, and type of weeds or brush being neared and on the type of equipment
being used. When using aerial equipment apply 2 to 40 gallons of diluted spmy
per treated acre in a water-based carrier.
BANVEL may be applied to individual clumps or small areas (SPOT TREAT-
MENT) of undesvable vegetation using handgun or similar types of application
equipment Apply diluted sprays m allow complete wetting (up to ran off) of
foliage and stems.
Herbicide adjuvants or other spray additives (emulsifiers, surfactants, wetting
agents, drift control agents, or penetrants) may be used for wetting, penetration, or
drift control. Spray additives must be agriculmmlly approved when used in pasmre
applications. if spmy additives are used, read and follow all use recommendations
and precautions on product label.
WEEDS CONTROLLED
BANVEL, when applied at recommended rotes, will give control of many AN-
NUAL, BIENNIAL, and PERENNIAL broadleaf weeds, and many WOODY
brush and vine species commonly found in pasmre, hay, rangeland, and general
farmstead (non-cropland) areas. (Refer to GENERAL WEED LIST). Noted (*)
Due to the variations that may occur in formulated products and specific use
ingredients (e.g. water supplies), a COMPATIBILITY TE57 is recommended
prior [o actual tank mixing.
CU7 SURFACE TREE TREATMENTS
BANVEL maybe applied as a cur surface treatment for control of unwanted trees
and prevention of sprouts of cm trees. A mix of 1 pan BANVEL with 1 to 3
pans water should be used in application. Use the lower dilution when treating
difficult-to-control species.
FRILL OR GIRDLE TREATMENTS: Make a continuous cut or a series of
overlapping cuts using an axe to girdle tree tmnk. Spray or paint cut surface with
the BANVEUwater mix.
STUMP TREATMENTS: Spray or paint freshly cut surface with [he water mix.
The area adjacent to the bark should be thoroughly we[.
Note: For more rapid foliar effects, 2,4-D may be added to the BANVEUwa[er
mix.
DORMANT APPLICATIONS FOR CONTROL OF MULTIFLORA ROSE
BANVEL can be applied when plants are dormant as an undiluted SPOT-
CONCENTRATE directly to the soil or as a LO-OIL BASAL BARK treatment
using an oil-water emulsion solution,
SPOT-CONCENTRATE applications of BANVEL should be applied directly to
the soil as close as possible to the root crown but within 6-8 inches of the crown.
On sloping terrain, application should be made to the uphill side of the crown. Do
not make application when snow or water prevents applying BANVEL directly
to [he soil. The use rote of BANVEL is dependent on the canopy diameter of the
multiflora rose. Examples: Use BANVEL at 4„ 1 or 24< fluid ounces ofproduc
respectively, For 5, 10 or I S fee[ canopy diameters. Do not exceed a total of 2
quarts BANVEL per acre per year.
LO-OIL BASAL BARK applications of BANVEL should be applied to the basal
stem region from Ne ground line up m a height of I2 to I8 inches. Spiny until
mnoff, with special emphasis on covering the root crown. For best results, make
[ion. All rights reserved.
