The area was treated <br />twice this year. There is less Russian knapweed than there <br />has been in the past. However, in the areas where the <br />knapweed was there is now musk thistle and common mullein. <br />I understand that parts of the mining area were to be <br />revegetated this fall. I talked to Steve Renner, Grand <br />Junction, earlier this year and emphasized the need to use <br />certified weed free seed and mulch. The current Russian <br />knapweed on Hawksnest mine came from knapweed infested mulch. <br />Thank you for your continued cooperation with the Gunnison <br />Basin Weed Commission.
