applicable performance standards, and the landowner (BLM) has made a written <br />request that the road be retained for further use. A portion of the lower road <br />segment to be retained is owned by the operator, Grand Valley Coal Company, <br />and they have indicated their intent to modify and retain their road segment to <br />accommodate BLM's requested retention, and to allow access to agricultural land <br />located east of East Salt Creek. Modification and retention of the lower road <br />segment is addressed on page 3-23 of Volume [; the BLM request is included in <br />Appendix L of Volume V. (4.03.2(1)(g)(i) and (ii). <br />C. Light-Use Roads <br />No light-use roads aze included in the permitted azea. <br />II. Support Facilities- Rule 4.04 <br />Pertinent information regazding facilities at the mine site aze given in Sections 2.2 and <br />2.3.4 of Volume I of the application. The facilities planned for the mine aze the mine <br />office, vehicle storage facilities, primary mine fan, bulk rock dust storage facility, power <br />generation equipment, conveyor gantry, portable staginglcrushing unit, sediment ponds, <br />roads and the proposed development waste storage pile. The roads, sediment ponds and <br />development waste storage pile aze discussed in other sections of this document (Sections <br />I, III, and VII, respectively). Additional facilities to be constructed under the central <br />facilities azea permit revision consist of a surge bin and conveyor system, coal wash plant <br />and stock pile azea, coal processing waste disposal azea, fresh water ponds, slurry ponds, <br />shop/wazehouse, mine office and haul road system to the refuse pile and the McClane <br />Canyon Mine. <br />The coal loadout facility is located approximately 21 miles from the mine site along the <br />D&RGW Railroad siding neaz Loma, Colorado. Approximately 5.6 acres of disturbance <br />is associated with the facility. Structures at the loadout include four coal loading ramps <br />and five coal stockpile azeas which will accommodate a maximum of 8000 tons of coal. <br />An agreement between Mesa County and Grand Valley Coal Company, as stipulated in <br />the Conditional Land Use Permit (MCN 85-16, dated February 19, 1985), limits the <br />storage of coal at the facility to 8000 tons. The site was previously used as a storage and <br />loading site for sugaz beets. <br />The applicant is in compliance with the requirements of this section. <br />III.
