• where inspections and other precautions, as needed, are taken to <br />ensure that the highwall above the working equipment is safe as per <br />§77.1004. When the bench is taken back to the highwall, all loose <br />material will be removed. <br />The overall slope of the highwall will be 40° or less with <br />individual benches less than approximately 80° (see Exhibit A). <br />Working bench widths of 90 feet or greater will be maintained in <br />the upper area, where primarily truck/shovel overburden removal <br />operations will take place with mostly dragline operations 90 feet <br />to 150 feet wide cuts below. <br />In the dragline areas (Seams Az or B through F), highwall <br />scaling will be done by the draglines, dozers or other appropriate <br />equipment. <br />• The highwall banks, benches and terrain sloping into the <br />active work areas are inspected by a mine foreman during each shift <br />and after every rain, freeze or thaw as per §77.1004 and §77.1713. <br />Hazardous conditions shall be corrected in a safe manner per <br />§77,1004 - §77.1006, before personnel are allowed to work in the <br />area. <br />Minino Procedures: <br />Water diversion ditch(s) are constructed to reduce the <br />watershed and to divert the flow of water around the pit and waste <br />dump areas. <br />Above X or AZ Seam, the overburden and interburden is drilled <br />and blasted and removed by shovel or front-end loader.
