ii
Banks and Gesso, LLC
RECL4MATlON PLAN (as submitted to the DMG under their Exhibit E)
' The post-mining land use for the Brighton Mine will be for one un-lined pond on
' ±he north and two water-storage reservoirs (one central to the site and one on the
south), with surrounding wildlife habitat. The surrounding land-uses remain
agricultural and limited rural residential. The reclamation plan is presented as
t follows:
Reclamation Overview
Land disturbance on the permit area will begin with removal of trees, brush and
excess vegetation, prior to mining. Topsoil will be stripped and initially
stockpiled with a scraper prior to mining. Topsoil will be utilized for future surface
reclamation as plant-growth medium and a component of backfill for mined pit-
slopes, as needed. Temporary revegetation of topsoil stockpiles will occur and
be maintained until the topsoil is reused in the reclamation process. Reclamation
grading, as slope backfill or a compacted clay liner, will be concurrent with mining
once the near-vertical pit slopes of the outer mining limits are established down
to the shale bed. Final topsoil placement will follow grading operations, followed
by seeding each fall in areas ready for final reclamation.
Reclamation Quantities and Phasing
There will be a large oversupply of topsoil obtained from the affected areas of
this mining permi±. Topsoil and overburden averages 4.9 ft. over the 94-acre
area to be stripped and excavated. The pre-mining process will salvage
' Brighton Mine Conditional Use Permit 20007WD
CAMAS Colorado, INC. May 2000
