<br />This document was prepazed by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (the Division) <br />for the Raton Creek Mine, Permit Renewal No. 3 (RN-03), permit no. C-82-055. It has three <br />main components: / ~ yf\\ir~,A~~'`St ~ ~~ <br />1) the proposed decision to approve(with stipulations)the permit renewal application; <br />2) a summary which includes a history of the review of the permit renewal application, a <br />description of the environment affected by the operation, and a description of the mining <br />and reclamation plan and; <br />3) the written findings of compliance as determined by the Division, and as required by the <br />Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. <br />The Division received an application for a permit renewal to conduct reclamation operations at <br />the Raton Creek Mine on February 13, 1997. The application was submitted by Energy Fuels <br />Mining Company, the current permittee and will also be operated by Energy Fuels Mining <br />Company. The mine is located on private lands within Las Animas County, Colorado. The legal <br />description of the lands included within the permit azea is: <br />Raton Creek Mine Area: <br />T33S, R63W, SW1/4 of Section 31; <br />T33S, R64W, S1/2 of Section 36 except portions of the Wl/2 W]/2; <br />T34S, R63W, all of Section 6 and N1/2 NE1/4, NE1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 7; <br />T34S, R64W, E1/2 El/2 of Section 1 of the 6th P.M. <br />The U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Quadrangle Maps which cover the above described <br />permit azea aze entitled Trinidad West and Starkville. <br />The Raton Creek mine has been reclaimed. Operations during this new, 5-yeaz permit term will <br />focus mainly monitoring and reclamation activities only. <br />
