Lochhead
EaecuUVe Director
Michael B. Lonp
Division Direcor
Jim, as you are aware, the portal seal at the Hawk's Nest Mine is
in poor condition. Attached are the previous bid specifications
for the seal as well as a proposed design and estimated cost to
repair the seal by Wagner Construction. Ray and Jay Wagner as well
as Paul Krabacher are both aware of the condition of the portal and
the safety hazards. This design was prepared by Ray Wagner, and we
are not obligated to use them as the contractor.
The Division has roughly $17,500,00 bond remaining. One additional
item needs to handled on site, and that is the disposal of 4
barrels of potentially hazardous waste. I plan to conduct a phone
bid within the next month to remove these barrels off site. The
cost associated with this task will come from the $17,500.00. I
will let you know the final amount remaining to use at the East
Portal.
Please let me know if you or Paul have any questions. Thanks for
your help.
