At this time, we need to work towazd accomplishing the following, in increments as lazge or small as you wish: (1)
release of azeas that were never disturbed, or disturbed but fully reclaimed, as long as these areas will not be
disturbed by mining or reclamation in the future; (2) revision of reclamation plans of any areas currently reclaimed
if that reclamation does not match the existing DMG plan; (3) revision of reclamation plans of any azeas that aze
slated for reclamation, if the upcoming reclamation does not match the existing DMG plan. I understand that
Idazado has recently been working with San Miguel County on a future residential subdivision and trail corridor in
the Pandora Mill and Telluride Tailings azea. The future plans appear to be very different from the plans currently
in this DMG file, and could be the logical area to begin your permit revisions with this office.
There is a financial warranty for this pernut in the amount of $226,600. Documenting which areas have been
reclaimed, or aze covered under the bond posted for reclamation under the RAP, and releasing those areas or
deleting them from the DMG reclamation bond liability may help to decrease the bond amount. If you have
questions after reviewing the enclosed materials please contact me. I may be reached at the Division's Durango
field office: 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247-5193.
I look forwazd to receiving your proposed revisions to the reclamation plans for this permit
Sincerely,
~~~
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec(w/o encl): Hany Posey, DMG
Encl: Exhibits from 1977 application, 1998 RAP memo.
(a:~idarado reel revisions/rco)
