Edna Mine Vegetation Final Bond Release Monitoring 2005-2006
Moffat Out-of-Pit spoil area.
Vegetation cover is the only final bond release parameter that must be satisfied
by the West Ridge: Previously Disturbed area and Moffat: Previously Disturbed
Area. The vegetation cover standard for these areas is 47% based on
monitoring conducted prior to re-disturbance by mining.
Voluntary diversity goal for West Ridge and Moffat previously disturbed lands is
graminoids 90%, fortis 5% and trees/shrubs 5%. The final vegetation bond
release monitoring report will include an evaluation of life form distribution.
NOTE: This plant life form distribution is a voluntary goal and failure to meet it
will not prevent final vegetation bond release.
MOFFAT AREA: TOPSOILED
Moffat Area reclamation that received topsoil will have weighted averages
determined for herbaceous cover and production liability release standards.
Premining plant community mapping and the actual disturbance area will be used
to determine the weighting factors. This will be accomplished by determining the
acreage within the disturbed area that was in either snowberry sage or
oak mountain shrub vegetation community types. Percentages values will be
calculated using the acres of disturbance within these two vegetation
communities. These percentages will be used to weight the average herbaceous
cover and production values for their respective reference areas and set the
vegetation parameter bond release standard.
Recommended standards for diversity of herbaceous, woody plants and overall
revegetation community have been established and will be used to describe
dominance, species numbers and utility. Herbaceous Species Diversity requires
the presence of at least five perennial herbaceous species with relative
importance of each species equal to or greater than 3% and less than 40%.
Combined relative importance of the 5 species will not exceed 75%.
