The maximum February 1st moisture content for the period of <br />record was determined. This represents the greate:;t histor- <br />ical accumulation during December and January, <br />2. The maximum recorded gain in moisture content for the month <br />of February was determined. The same was done for the months <br />of March and Apri~ regardless of the year in which the gain <br />was recorded. <br />3. The Probable Maximum snowpack was determined assuming that <br />all of the maximums derived for No. 1 and No. 2 would occur <br />in the same year, <br />Accordingly, the snow moisture content for the PM snowpack was <br />estimated to be 28,0 inches. <br />Snowmelt Runoff <br />In order to determine the relation between snowpack moisture <br />content and the resulting runoff, correlations were made usin0 the <br />snow course data and the recorded flows (1968-1971) at former stream <br />gage 101 which was located on the East Branch of Ute Creek ju:;t down- <br />stream of what is now Tailing Dam No. 2, The results were then com- <br />pared, using frequency analysis, to the recorded runoff for other <br />streams in the upper Williams fork basin. The comparative snnwmalt <br />runoff is shown in Table 1. <br />1t can be observed from Table 1 that the runoff per square mile <br />increases with increasing basin elevation and that the relative values <br />seem reasonable. Therefore, since the mean basin elevation fcrr all of <br />the Henderson sub-has~ns is very nee-'.~~ the same as for gage 101, the <br />estimated snowmelt (acre-feet per square mile) at gage 101 was adopted <br />for use throughout the Henderson Project area.
