June 27, 2005
y~y~
JUN 2 8 2005'

Mr. Means:
Cotter Corporation has received the analytical results of th Se PLP test on the waste rock
dump material at the JD-9 Mine. These results are attached, per your request during the
review of Permit No. M-1977-306 dated May 10, 2004. A sample of the ore being placed
in the surface stockpile has been submitted for SPLP analyses, also. The results of that
sample will be forwarded to you when Cotter receives them.
~"~ The waste sample was collected as a composite sample consisting of fragments broken
offof lazge waste rocks (>i ft), fist-sized rocks, and gabs of fines in the waste pile.
These were collected randomly from several mine truckloads after they were dumped.
All of the new waste rock brought outside since the mine was restarted and all anticipated
in the mine's future is from development drifts in the upper sandstone unit of the Salt
Wash member of the Morrison formation, which is the ore-bearing horizon.
The ore sample was collected randomly around the ore stockpi]e located on the surface.
The parameters that were analyzed were discussed with Harry Posey in a March 1, 2005
telephone conversation. These are the parameters from CDPHE Water Quality
Commission Regulation No. 35, for the Lower Dolores River Basin. The reporting limits
Cotter requested from the lab are based on hardness of the river water equal to 100 mg/1.
This hazdness value used is an estimate.
Ifyou have questions or need more information regarding the sampling, please contact
Dick White at Cotter Corporation's Nucla office, ph. 970-864-7347.
Respectfully,
Dick White, Project Geologist
Cotter Corporation
Cotter Corporation -West Slope Operations Telephone (970) 864-7347
P.O.
