Lons
Drvisron Dueao~
Thank you for your letter of December 6, 1994. You are correct in
stating that the contract for the East Pit work specified that the
slopes would be graded to 3:1 Horizontal to Vertical. Based upon
post-construction observations and measurements, the Division
believes that all slopes have been graded to 3:1 (H:V) or less
including the westerly slope of Chen's Hill and the northerly slope
of the hill between the East and West Pits. The Division
recognizes that, within the Project area, there are minor areas
where the slopes exceed 3:1 (H:V) such as portions of the road
shoulders and ditches. The Division believes this variance to be
minor and problems which may result will be corrected subject to
available funds.
Again, thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention.
Sincerely,
v /James B.
