M. Clapton performed a partial inspection of the Blue
Ribbon Mine site on Jul,v 9, 1990. In his inspection report Mr.
Clapton noted two "tension" cracks up slope from the bench and
further noted that the monitoring pipes were "skewed" downhill
indicating some downhill movement.
Mr. Clapton's assumption that the inclination of piezometers
P-5 and P-6 indicates downhill movement in not valid. ,a truck
mounted drill was used to install piezometers P-5 and P-6 on Oc-
tober 12, 1989. Since this truck mounted drill rig was operating
on a 2h:ly slope, these two piezometers were installed "skewed"
downhill about 15 de;rees.
I also believe that the "tension" cracks are actually set-
tlin~ cracks. Theses cracks occur above the trenches that were
eticavated across the slope during the 1989 slump repair project.
The cracks appear to be healin~ themselves.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sinc~er~eyl,v.
~1~
Jim Stover.
