Oar observattons and interpretations of the
distress are consistent with this explanatlan:
In addition to the recant foundation movements affecting the eastern portion
of the house, we observed other conditJons that c6n be attributed to normal
aging sad long-term exposure to.ehe elements. In particular, the upper.;; .
portion of the south wall near the southeast corner of the house to badly
damaged hom moisture infiltration.
RBCOMMbNDA7ION8
It is our recommendation that you closely monitor the structural cracks and
aeparaHons within the house. We are hopeful that the foundation
movements have, in fact, stopped and that a limited scope of structural and
oosmetic repairs can be undertaken. if, however, the movements continue
and further distress develops, a more substantial program of repairs t0 the
structure and the foundation systetn may be required.
Leakage prablema at the upper. roof scuppers should be corrected end the
water-damaged porilons of the south wall should then be rebuilt. We also
recommend that you take steps to improve the surface drainage along the
south and west elevarions of the hauae.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide this engltu3ertng assessment.
