Long, Division Director <br />Re: Pattern of Violations and Issuance of Show Cause Order <br />Rimrock Coal Company, The Rimrock Strip Mine, Permit No. C-89-074 <br />~~~ <br />DEPARTMENT OF <br />NATURAL <br />RESOURCES <br />Roy Romer <br />Govemoi <br />Ken Salazar <br />Executive Durorv <br />M¢hael B long <br />Dim~ion Dueaur <br />I have reviewed your memorandum to me dated March 29, 1994 regarding the Pattern of <br />Violations at the Rimrock Strip Mine in Las Animas County. <br />I concur with the staff determinations that a Pattern of Violations has existed at the mine, and <br />that these violations were caused by the unwarranted failure of the permittee to comply with <br />the requirements of the Act, Rules, and/or conditions of Permit No. C-89-074. <br />I therefore direct you to issue to Rimrock Coal Company an order to show cause why the <br />Rimrock Strip Mine permit should not be suspended or revoked.
