Edna Mine Vegetation Final Bond Release Monitoring 2005-2006
combined relative importance standard is waived and does not require
evaluation. No other diversity standards applicable to these areas require
quantitative vegetation measurement.
OTHER BOND RELEASE MONITORING OBSERVATIONS
In addition to measurement of vegetation parameters a plant species list for each
area will be compiled, an erosion condition survey will be conducted, weed
infestations will be observed and mapped, and panoramic photographs of the
reclaimed area will taken. Additional details regarding these monitoring activities
are provided categorically below.
Plant Species List
A plant species inventory will be made for each reclaimed vegetation community.
This inventory will be compiled from species observed during field
reconnaissance, point-intercept line-transect cover measurements, production
quadrat sampling, shrub density belt transects, and other opportunistic
observations of the sampling areas. The plant species list will include scientific
name, common name, life form, and origin. The list will be organized by life form.
The NRCS National Plants Database will be used as the primary authority for
plant species names. Other references for plant species identification will be
provided in those instances where this is necessary. In conjunction with
vegetation parameter data, this information will be used to document each
reclaimed area's plant species diversity.
Erosion Condition Classification: BLM Method
At the time of final vegetation bond release monitoring an evaluation of the
erosion condition class will be performed on Previously Disturbed Lands using
the methods described in the BLM's Technical Note #346. Individual
classification surveys will be pertormed on the West Ridge: Previously Disturbed
Habitat Management, Inc. 5 4/8/2005
